Code of conduct

We want everyone to feel welcome and safe at WHPC MENA events and in our online spaces.

Scope

This code applies to everyone who takes part in WHPC MENA activities: attendees, speakers, volunteers, organisers and sponsors, at in-person and online events, and in our online groups and channels.

Expected behaviour

  • Be respectful and considerate, including of different backgrounds, cultures, languages and levels of experience.
  • Give others room to speak, and credit people for their work and ideas.
  • Ask before taking or sharing photos or recordings of people.
  • Look out for each other, and tell an organiser if someone needs help.

Unacceptable behaviour

  • Harassment, intimidation or discrimination of any kind.
  • Offensive comments or jokes about gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, age or appearance.
  • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention.
  • Disrupting talks or discussions, or continuing contact after being asked to stop.

Reporting

If you experience or witness behaviour that breaks this code, tell an organiser at the event or email marhaba@whpcmena.org. Reports are handled in confidence.

Consequences

Organisers may take any action they consider appropriate, from a warning to removal from an event or from our community, without refund.
